Summer Chalet Vacations – the new pool in Chamonix

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Ah, summer is here.  The glorious season of the year when most of us take life a little less seriously, set off on a long awaited holiday and let the warm summer sun breath life into our Vitamin D deprived skin.

Summer vacations in the mountains have been rising in popularity and are a great way to enjoy the great outdoors. Did you know that Chamonix Mont Blanc is as much a summer resort as a winter resort?  So why not trade the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera with the beauty and serenity of the French Alps.

Apart from the great deals available on chalet rental accommodation, especially for self catering chalets, the new swimming pool in Chamonix has just been opened after extensive renovations

The new pool at the Centre Sportif Richard Bozon (214 av. de la Plage, 74400 Chamonix-Mont-Blanc) now has both indoor and outdoor areas and is suited as much to soaking up the summer rays and cooling in the summer heat is it is to training and improving your fitness.

The recent renovation project now means the Chamonix pool complex now offers:

  • 25m indoor swimming pool
  • 50m outdoor pool with 6 lanes
  • Outside are for sunbathing with a drinks and snack bar
  • A fun pool of with massage jets
  • A new kids pool with water falls
  • ‘Pentagliss’ play area with 3 water slides
  • river rapids
  • jacuzzi, hamman and sauna
  • completely renovated changing and shower facilities

Climbing the Mont Blanc

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Congratulations Paul and Steve!!  You did it!!!!

Congratulations to our friends Paul O’Neil and Steve Hancock who successfully climbed to the summit of Mont Blanc at 10:57am on 8 July 2010.  Starting from  village of Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley, they hauled themselves up to the top of the highest mountain peak in Europe, a daunting 4,810m (15,781 ft) above sea level.  No mean feat, especially considering neither of them are experienced climbers (well i guess they are now, but they weren’t when they started!!)

Nice one boys, an incredible achievement!

…. and if just getting to the top wasn’t enough, they also raised a huge pile of cash for the National Autism Association.

NAA – National Autism Association

The mission of the National Autism Association is to educate and empower families affected by autism and other neurological disorders, while advocating on behalf of those who cannot fight for their own rights. We will educate society that autism is not a lifelong incurable genetic disorder but one that is biomedically definable and treatable. We will raise public and professional awareness of environmental toxins as causative factors in neurological damage that often results in an autism or related diagnosis. We will encourage those in the autism community to never give up in their search to help their loved ones reach their full potential, funding efforts toward this end through appropriate research for finding a cure for the neurological damage from which so many affected by autism suffer.
